Ala da Adefu, Stephânia Silva, escreveu seu nome no cenário nacional ao conquistar o Campeonato Brasileiro de Basquete em Cadeira de Rodas com a equipe APP/Valkírias, de Patos de Minas. A competição, realizada no CT Paralímpico de São Paulo, reuniu sete times entre os dias 18 e 22 de agosto, e a equipe mineira fez campanha impecável. Ao vencer todos os jogos da primeira fase, chegou embalada à decisão e bateu o All Star Rodas/PA por 61 a 45, garantindo o ouro.
O feito ganha ainda mais destaque porque Stephânia iniciou no basquete apenas em janeiro deste ano. Convocada para integrar o time após boa atuação no Campeonato Mineiro, a jogadora de classe 1.5 rapidamente mostrou evolução. Além do basquete, a uberabense também vem colecionando conquistas no atletismo paralímpico: em sua estreia, no Meeting Paralímpico de junho, já havia faturado ouro no arremesso de peso e no lançamento de dardo.
Agora, a atleta retorna aos treinos com a Adefu, em Uberaba, de olho na sequência do Campeonato Mineiro, que terá novas etapas em setembro, em Araguari e Patos de Minas. A rotina intensa mostra que Stephânia é uma promessa em ascensão, tanto nas quadras quanto nas pistas, levando o nome de Uberaba cada vez mais longe no esporte paralímpico.
